About Lucas
The braided career — from carpentry through VR through arcade installs through AI systems.

Lucas's career started in skilled trades — measuring, cutting, and upholstering cat furniture at Tef Nut Shu Manufacturing in Hamilton, Ontario — and has been braided across multiple industries ever since.
In 2016, he joined 3D Agency Ltd as a Mixed Reality Engineer on day one of the consumer VR wave, working on an OCE government-funded mobile MR broadcasting booth, a VR biometrics return-to-work assessment for ER nurses (MR marketing in ~2018, then a full Unreal Engine + HP Reverb tool in 2020), teaching Mixed Reality at Mohawk College, and repairing VR hardware from bankrupt Ctrl V locations.
In January 2017 — while still at 3D Agency — he started at Unis as an intern making installation tutorial videos. That internship evolved into nearly a decade as tech lead: first one in, last one out on installations and teardowns across 4 continents and 5 countries, 30+ trade shows, and named Event Producer for the company's 2020 global virtual trade show alongside the President.
In 2018, he was on the ground for Unis's officially licensed Atari Table Pong Project launch — presenting on Las Vegas TV, acting in the brand video, and presenting at CES. During the first couple years of the Pong launch, he installed upgrades on machines across Australia, New York, and California.
On top of that operational foundation, Lucas became the de-facto AI/automations function at Unis — designing and shipping six production systems: competitor intelligence with auto-generated daily podcasts, a multi-agent AI-avatar broadcast platform, RAG-powered tech support, and two end-to-end lead-generation pipelines.
Outside Unis, he ships SaaS platforms, websites, and chatbots through PluginWork — his software development studio serving clients in healthcare, e-commerce, wedding tech, and location analytics.

Career Timeline
The multi-role years (2016-2021) are when everything overlapped — VR engineer, trade show tech lead, VR arcade builder, and sports broadcaster simultaneously.
Carpenter & Upholsterer
Tef Nut Shu Manufacturing
Hand-built cat furniture — houses, trees, posts, A-frames — measuring, cutting, assembling wood components and applying carpet upholstery. Retail products sold through Pet Valu across Ontario.
Technical Producer / Handheld Camera
McMaster University / Cable 14
Professional sports broadcasting for McMaster volleyball. Technical producer, top-performing handheld camera operator at CIS Nationals. All-position proficiency with TriCaster and broadcast trucks.
Mixed Reality Engineer
3D Agency Ltd
Day one of the consumer VR wave. Built OCE-funded mobile MR broadcasting booth, VR biometrics return-to-work assessment for ER nurses (MR marketing ~2018, full Unreal Engine + HP Reverb tool in 2020), taught Mixed Reality at Mohawk College, repaired VR hardware from bankrupt Ctrl V locations, co-facilitated VR Society meetups.
VR Developer / Builder
T-Reality
VR arcade in Niagara Falls — physical construction (demolition + renovation) AND VR R&D: Arduino custom controllers, Kinect gesture control, alternative VR tracking systems.
Field Tech Lead
Unis Technology
Started as intern making installation tutorial videos. Evolved into tech lead — first in, last out on every install and trade show. 30+ trade shows across 4 continents, Atari Table Pong world tour, named Event Producer for 2020 global virtual trade show alongside the company President.
AI / Automations Lead
Unis Technology
Became the de-facto AI/automations function — designed and shipped six production systems with retained personal IP: competitor intelligence, AI avatar broadcast, RAG tech support, two lead-gen pipelines, and analytics dashboard.
Founder / Developer
PluginWork
Software development studio shipping production SaaS across healthcare (Hypno-App), e-commerce (PRINTS-DMT, Money-Getters), location analytics (Vista-Sign), and wedding tech (AI-Weddings). Productizing the Unis-origin AI systems across new verticals.
How I Operate
Traits that turn skills into hireable attributes — grounded in verifiable evidence, not self-description.
Takes the Unglamorous Work
Red-eye to show floor, 12+ hour days, last one standing after the team leaves. Leadership by absorbing the undesirable work, not delegating it.
Steps Into Leadership Under Pressure
When things go wrong on a live show floor, Lucas moves toward the problem. Named Event Producer for a global virtual trade show when COVID shut everything down.
End-to-End Ownership by Default
Builds the physical thing, writes the software, produces the content, teaches it, sells it, and maintains it. One person owning the whole thing — because the alternative is nobody owning it.
Systematizes and Teaches
Seven documented instances across customers, students, youth, community, interns, conference attendees, and technicians. Knowledge in one person's head is fragile — knowledge systematized is durable.
Diagnostic-First Problem Solving
Read the error, trace the data, search for precedent, then fix. Understands WHY before trying more things. Trades speed-of-first-attempt for accuracy-of-first-fix.
Works Across Cultures
Operations across 4 continents and 5 countries — US, Canada, Spain, Morocco, Australia — in roles requiring direct interpersonal interaction on the ground.
